A simple project today, but sometimes the print makes the project. The neon color doesn\’t photograph quite as bright as it is in person–it\’s bright. It makes my hot pink coat look drab (almost). The background is an off-white, so this is going to be a hard one to match things with, but… I couldn\’t resist.
I made this midi skirt without a pattern, just using the geometric repeat on the fabric to determine the pleat widths. I alternated double and single pleats, inspired by the double box pleats in my recent floral skirt (and that gorgeous $1000 Erdem skirt from that post–please someone click this affiliate link and purchase it so I get the commision and can buy more fabric, thanks).
I believe that most of my readers are proficient skirt-makers already, but if you are not, please let me know in the comments if you would like a few similar simpler projects and/or accompanying tutorials!

So nice to see your wedding shoes being worn. The fabric really doesn't look that bright in the photo….do you have plans to sew a spring weight top to wear with the skirt?

I was so close to buying a similar skirt this weekend, but I decided not to. I'm regretting that now. This is so cute!

It is so much brighter in person–the instagram I snapped of the hem is more true to life. I would like to sew a spring top for it! It sorrrrt of goes with white, but looks better with off-white which I don't have a lot of. We'll see!

I'm really into longer-length pleated skirts right now since I've been combing through atlantic-pacific's archives! Her skirts will make you soo jealous 😉

I'm thinking of doing a simple pleated skirt for the next spoolettes high tea. Unless I get seduced by a pattern between now and then.

Sometimes a simple silhouette is the best option 🙂 It can make a big impact when you have a great fabric!

Thanks, Nilla! I have about 1/3 yard left, and I have no idea what to do with it but I don't want to toss it since it's just so cool!
