What did you see peeking out from beneath my hot pink coat??
All the while, this dress sat hanging unhemmed but otherwise complete.
I really liked this dress in theory, but when I tried it on to determine the length, I wasn\’t in love. This is a straight size 8 with no alterations. I cut between the 8 and 10 for my green rayon Simplicity 8013 and I think that\’s a better size for me, as I would rather this dress be just a bit looser. Also, the blush color, which I do love (and it\’s a paler shade of the color of the year, so…), made this particular dress look a little bit, I don\’t know… 80s?
After all that, I hemmed it extra short and I really like it!
Sorry for the wrinkles–rayon challis is a beast. Also: NOT warm enough for February. I quickly got these pictures and then shivered back into my coat.

color of the year!

That neckline is so flattering and face framing. I think I might really like the sleeveless view in a tunic length. Are those pleats on the shoulders? Another really nice dress !

I was also underwhelmed by the Pantone announcement, but now I keep seeing those colors in sunsets and they're growing on me. Tentatively inching towards rose quartz as a wearable color. Floaty fabric is definitely the way to do it!

Oooh, I wondered if you made this dress when you posted the coat last week. The color, style, length look great on you. That's frustrating that it wrinkles so easily, but honestly no one will notice it but you! Going to put this pattern in my own queue…

I thought I would take advantage of my outfit and get two posts out of one photoshoot 🙂 It's a nice pattern and not very difficult (it's \”Jiffy\” after all)! I think it would look lovely in a more casual fabric as well.

Thank you, I really like it! There is one pleat on each shoulder (instead of bust darts). I think it would make a nice tunic!

That is such a lovely colour, it goes amazing with the coat. The big wide sleeves are a great silhouette.

Yes, I like all shades of pink so rose quartz was okay but that pale blue? Not as much. They are sunset colors, though, I hadn't thought of them that way 🙂

Having made this dress and my green 70s gown, I can say I'm officially a fan of the big sleeves 🙂

thanks for photographing 😉

I could totally see how this would look too 80's in a longer length. I think with the fullness of the sleeves, it really needed the shorter length to balance out the style, good thing you have great legs!
